The act led to severe public backlash, with accusations of endangering the animal for social media attention. Strable defended her actions, claiming she intended to help the animal and criticized Australians for their treatment of native wildlife, highlighting practices like the legal culling of certain species.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned her actions, suggesting she attempt such behavior with more dangerous animals.
