On February 7, 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s cricketing history. The renovation, completed in a record 117 days, was undertaken by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to prepare the venue for the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025.The comprehensive upgrade included the installation of LED lighting, new seating arrangements increasing the capacity to 34,000 spectators, state-of-the-art hospitality boxes, and enhanced facilities for players and officials. These improvements aim to provide an unparalleled experience for both players and fans, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to hosting international cricket events at the highest standards.In his address, Prime Minister Sharif lauded the efforts of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, contractors, and workers for their dedication to completing the renovation promptly.
