After thirteen years, Swat Valley, renowned for its lush green hills and roaring rivers, welcomed back its most celebrated daughter.
Malala Yousafzai, on her first visit since surviving a Tal*ban assassination attempt in 2012. Once a young advocate for education, the Nobel Laureate returned as a global symbol of resilience and hope.
During her visit, Malala reunited with family members, paid respects at the ancestral graveyard, and met her uncle, Ramazan, who recently underwent heart surgery in Islamabad.
She arrived in Barkana by helicopter, accompanied by her father, Ziauddin Yousafzai, and her husband, Asser Malik, according to Karora Station House Officer (SHO) Amjad Alam Khan
.She also toured the girls’ school and college she established in 2018, which provides free education to nearly 1,000 students.
Before its founding, the district lacked an operational government girls’ college. Education activist Shehzad Roy, who oversees the institution under Zindagi Trust, briefed Malala on its facilities and progress.
