Imran Khan address from Adiala jail on Terrorist activities and recent accident

“Terrorism has once again taken root in the country. During our tenure, we managed to control terrorism and were heading towards the promotion of tourism. Pakistan’s ranking in the ‘Global Terrorism Index’ improved by four places; however, the regime change has reversed all this progress. Unfortunately, we have once again become the second worst country in the Global Terrorism Index.

Just like the internal matters, Pakistan’s foreign policy is also being managed in a disastrous manner at this time. We have a long border with Afghanistan, and our issues should be resolved through dialogue. There will be no peace in the country until our foreign policy concerning neighboring countries is independent and sovereign.

Military operations are never a solution to problems; the resolution of major wars also comes through negotiations and efforts for peace and stability. The primary task of intelligence agencies should be to protect borders and prevent terrorism. If they continue to focus on political engineering and breaking apart the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, then who will safeguard the borders?

Terrorism is thriving in Balochistan, and there is no political solution being found for the issues there. Until a government based on public trust is brought forth, stability will not be possible across the country.

The governance situation throughout the country is poor because, in many places, the genuine representatives of the people have been replaced by those who only follow ‘Form 47’. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the only province where a people’s government exists, and due to its representation of public aspirations, the performance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa exceeds that of all other provinces.

The annual performance report of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is excellent. Ali Amin Gandapur, as Chief Minister, is doing a very good job.

Adiala Jail is currently operating outside the law. Contrary to jail manuals, I have not been allowed to meet my own wife for 72 hours within 90 days, which is my fundamental and legal right. Despite court orders, I have not been allowed to speak to my children for the past two weeks.

I have only been allowed to speak to them four times in the last four months. Even my books have not been allowed to reach me. All of this is a serious violation of fundamental human rights, law, and the jail manual. In Pakistan, at this time, only the law of ‘might is right’ is being enforced.”
