Direct flights from Pakistan to the United Kingdom are set to resume after a gap of over four years, confirmed Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, Dr. Mohammad Faisal.
Initially, flights will operate between London, Manchester, and Pakistan, with efforts to restore the Birmingham route. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) suspended PIA’s operations in June 2020 over concerns about Pakistan’s aviation safety standards.
The suspension followed an investigation into pilots’ licenses after a tragic crash killed 97 people. A special inauguration ceremony will be held to mark the resumption of UK flights, as Pakistan works to restore its aviation connectivity with Europe fully.
