Russia and China’s relationship is as strong as steel, Xi Jinping has said, as he praised Vladimir Putin’s “positive efforts” to end the war in Ukraine.The Chinese president was speaking after meeting Sergei Shoigu, Russia’s most senior security official, in Beijing on Friday.
Speaking to Mr Shoigu at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People, Xi called China and Russia “friendly neighbours” and said their relationship had been “tempered into steel”.Mr Shoigu, meanwhile, told Xi that the relationship between the two nations were at unprecedented high.
It follows a call between Xi and Putin earlier this week, with the Chinese president declaring the two countries “cannot be moved away” from each other.
