Chaos in coastal Syria

More than 1,000 people have been killed since Thursday, a war monitor said, amid clashes between Bashar al-Assad loyalists and government forces in coastal Syria.

Residents described shootings outside their homes and bodies in the streets in the country’s worst outbreak of violence since al-Assad’s ouster last December.
