Pakistan amends the civil servant promotion rule 1973

The Pakistan government has revised the Civil Servants Promotion Rules, 1973, following directives from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Establishment Division has issued a new Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO) formalizing the changes.

Under the amended rules, an officer’s promotion to Grade 22 will only be considered twice. If unsuccessful in both attempts, the officer will not be reconsidered and will retire in their current grade. A notification regarding these changes has been published in the Gazette of Pakistan.
